Innkeeper
The innkeeper, Cara Parker, is available by phone from 9 am until 9 pm daily and checks email often throughout the day.
Check-In
Check-in is from 3 pm - 6 pm.
Early Check-In
Check-in times are simply a guideline. Early check-in is gladly accommodated whenever possible. The innkeeper requests that you call about an hour before you reach the inn on the day of arrival. During this call she will inform you if your room is ready and if early check-in is an option. Please don't hesitate to ask!
In the event that your room is still being made ready when you arrive on the island, you are welcome to make yourself comfortable inside the common areas of the inn, which includes a full bath. Or, you may grab a beach chair from the closet and hit the sand. If you are hungry after your travels, the innkeeper will be happy to suggest a local spot.
Late Arrival
Please call the innkeeper early in the day if you will arrive later than 6 pm so arrangements can be made for your arrival. In this instance, a detailed note is left on the patio doors on the first level of the inn explaining how to get to your room, where to park and general information to help you settle in until the innkeeper is available to greet you at breakfast the next morning.
Check-Out
Check-out is 10 am.
Late Check-Out
Late check-out requests are accommodated whenever possible, at the discretion of the innkeeper. If no new reservation is coming in, you are welcome to enjoy your room until mid-afternoon or until you are ready to leave. If a new reservation is coming in, the check-out time must be observed. In this case, please feel welcome to put your bags in the car and still use the common areas of the inn until you are ready to leave.
Reservations
Room rates are based on double occupancy.
Additional guests are $20 per person.
Reservations including a Saturday night require a 2 night minimum
Holiday weekends require a 3 night minimum.
Reservations are secured with a credit card.
A deposit equal to 50% of the total stay guarantees reservation.
Reservation balance is taken when you arrive at the inn.
We accept Cash, Travelers Checks, American Express, Discover, Master Card and Visa, as well as BedandBreakfast.com Gift Certificates.
Reservations are secured for a specific room. Though we do our absolute best to honor every booking, in the case of emergency we reserve the right to change accommodations.
Cancellations
We request cancellations be made ten days prior to arrival date.
Cancellations made ten days prior to arrival date are subject to a $20 cancellation fee or 5% of the total reservation cost, whichever is higher, to cover processing costs.
Cancellations made inside ten days of arrival date are subject to a loss of deposit.
A loss of deposit will not result if we are able to rent the same accommodation for a reservation of equal or greater value. In this case, the same cancellation fee - $20 or 5% - will result.
Deposits are fully refundable minus a $20 processing fee in the event of a mandatory evacuation of the Town of Nags Head due to inclement weather or hurricanes.
Additional Charges We are a relaxed beach inn and do not prohibit guests from taking food and beverages to their rooms. However, we do expect that guests will take great care not to stain carpets, towels and linens. We provide trays to carry food and beverages, as well as wash clothes and towels specifically for make-up, tanning product, and mud removal, etc. If excessive efforts are required to repair stained items or carpets we reserve the right to charge an additional $25 cleaning fee after check-out. If linens or towels need to be replaced as a result of damage by a guest, we reserve the right to charge their replacement cost to the guest after check-out.
Discounts
We purposely price our rates and run discount specials to make our inn an affordable option for all travelers. In addition, we extend a 5% discount to military families and AARP guests. Please request at the time of booking.
Pets
We accept pets on a per case basis. Our primary purpose is to provide a relaxed and comfortable environment for all of our guests. We reserve the right to maintain a pet-free inn for guests who have already booked that have expressed a sensitivity to animals. We prefer dogs over six months old who are well-trained and flea treated. We request that you bring a crate for the times when your pet is alone in your room and that you be responsible for picking up after your dog.
The charge for a pet to visit the inn is an additional $15 per night. Please provide the name, age and breed of your dog during your reservation as well as a cell number where you can be reached in case of emergency during your absence.
Keep in mind that the owner's dog, Princess, already lives at the inn, so your dog must be friendly to other dogs and all kinds of people.
Guests who visit the inn with their pets are encouraged to book the Mermaid Room exclusively because it is our largest room and can accommodate a crate and animal easily. In addition, this room has a private entrance that does not require your dog to enter and exit through the inn for the convenience of other guests. Exceptions are made at the innkeeper's discretion.
